Five Plants update #2
Hey five plants fans, hope you've been well!
I've spent the last few weeks tinkering away on all kinds of under-the-hood stuff in preparation to put an Android version on the Google Play store, which is pretty exciting. I'm gonna put it at $2 but if you're keen enough that you're reading this update and you want a freebie, get in touch and I'll figure out how to do that (or look into what's involved with uploading an apk here or something).
When I first started Five Plants it was just as a little experiment post on my blog, which meant the thing ended up being a single several-thousand-lines long javascript file nestled in a totally different project. Not any more 😮💨
With all the screenshots and iconry Google Play wants, it pushed me to assemble a little logo for the game, and I've added that to the title screen along with some better UI animation/indicators/sfx stuff; I think it was a bit thin & janky feeling beforehand and now it's got a bit more of that solidity that I like to put in my games.
There's also a gameplay update where QuickWilt was a bit too full-on; I think my own expectation was that if a wilting plant was shy or slow or whatever, it would wait to wilt in the same way that it'd wait to grow, so I was always getting surprised when a plant would die immediately after fruiting. With this update, if a plant can prevent itself growing, it can prevent itself wilting.
That's all! As always I'd love to hear what you think; thanks again for playing!
