Wizard's Tower
A downloadable game
Made at the start of the pandemic when the concept of quarantine was new and strange. Designed for play with people you're isolating with, or via voice chat with remote friends. It's for yelling out dice numbers and things like "I'm gonna change that five into a four and invite the old lady over" or "aack I shouldn't have put that 1 into the wilderness, I've totally screwed myself".

Install instructions
Print it out using any PDF viewing software and get to scribbling, or import the PNG into any image editor and write over the top of it. The rules and the game and everything are all on the one page. You will need to provide two six-sided dice yourself.
You can just play it over discord or whatever you use to talk to friends online - just each of you have a copy in front of you in whatever app. If you have screen sharing it could be fun to share your page. You can appoint someone to roll physical dice and call them out, or you can use an online dice roller.

Thank you for this game. I averaged 11 rolls in 3 solo games. I agree that 10 stars is better. I played 3 games for 10 stars and averaged 16 rolls. The game is more interesting as well. Also, 14 skulls is very generous. I only got 1 in 3 games collecting 10 stars. I then played until the end of the time track. I got 13 stars and no skulls. I still had a good time. I'm just offering some ideas to make this as exciting as Strange Streets.
And thank you for playing - really glad to hear you enjoyed Strange Streets as well. And yeah, my intention for this one was to be a much more friendly & cosy experience (it was early in the pandemic and I was SO stressed out). I am delighted that people are finding ways to houserule additional challenge into it though.
I honestly adore this game, and the solo mechanic for what is essentially speedrunning is something genuinely elegant.
Possibly my favourite “quick snacky game” <3
Oh hey thanks so much! This has made my day :D
Aw, I’m glad! I was quite surprised to see it’s the only game of its kind on your page, I’d love to see more!
I think your comment gave me the itch to revisit this design space! I found an old prototype recently and polished it up, it's published here: https://mcccclean.itch.io/strange-streets
This game is awesome, the idea is just great.
Looks cool. It would be helpful to clarify whether everybody shares the same dice rolls, and what “spend 1” refers to (I assume resources).
[fully two years later] Yep, it does mean resources!
Regarding the dice rolls, the intent was that everyone shares the same rolls, but it works just fine with people rolling their own dice (although it reduces the amount of interaction between players -- when sharing rolls, you can see who made the best use of the luck they got, whereas when it's separate it's a bit more arbitrary-feeling)
Excellent little game! It takes five minutes to learn and offers an unexpected amount of strategizing. Plus there's solo rules!
It's so fun, in fact, that we changed the winning condition to ten stars because we didn't want the game to end :)
